Sumi Strata:

The Sumi Strata works are layered with fragments of maps, washi paper, and newspapers. Ink, gesso and other pigments are used to meld together these layers of cultural debris. Washes of ink and surfaces of varied textures and absorbency allow me to revel in the guided accident. The search for light out of darkness is a prevailing concern in these works.
