JULIA A. COASH

BIO

Julia Coash is a Professor of Studio Art and Art History at Albertus Magnus College, New Haven, CT where she is also Co-chair of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts and Director of the Masters in Liberal Studies Program. She has held teaching positions at Bermuda College and the American University in Cairo, Egypt. She is a painter and has exhibited her work in Bermuda, Paris, Cairo and throughout the United States. Coash received her MFA in Painting from James Madison University; her MSEd in Higher Education and BA in Ethnographic Photography both from Southern Illinois University. In conjunction with these studies she completed field work and research projects on "Attitudes Towards Nature in Chinese Painting During the Song Dynasty"; "The Evolution of Design and Style in Navajo Weaving" and "The Weaving Techniques Forms and Styles of Tarabuco, Bolivia". Her interests in anthropology and visual culture are important influences on her artwork.
